In order for Christian art to be good, it must reflect truth and be beautiful. There can be no conflict.
BIOGRAPHY
Sharon (Silvia) Clossick grew up in Rhode Island where, as a young girl, was deeply rooted in nature and developed a love of natural beauty through play and exploration of the outdoors. She often found herself contemplating life while sitting in a large maple tree in her front yard. She considered herself an artist and a deep thinker who was attracted to all that was true, good and beautiful. While Sharon expressed herself her entire life through the gift of art, she developed a love for sacred art during a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi in 2005. Upon her return, while raising four young children, she decided to pick up her paint brush and express the love of her Catholic faith through painting. Sharon has since been painting sacred, devotional, and mundane art while juggling family life and work. Now that her children are grown, within Sharon's vocation to marriage and motherhood, God is showing her a new call within a call. This is to spread Christ's love through beauty and art, focusing on John Paul II's teaching of the Theology of the Body - of what it means to be human and how to live a life of true happiness. Through Sharon's art and writings, she hopes, in participation with other artists, to bring the beauty of the gospel and liturgical tradition back to the culture in a new way. We are all called to evangelize and to walk the path with Christ, discovering the cross and redemption. Sharon is currently pursuing a Master of Sacred Arts degree through Pontifex University. She and her husband, Deacon Joe, reside in Narragansett, RI.
